WRECK OF THE TITANIC FOUND

The Titanic was built in March 1909 by director J. Bruce Ismay and Lord James Pirrie. It took a year to be designed. They wanted the boat to be comfortable, elegant and safe. The launch took place in May 1911. Everyone anticipated to ride on it and the tickets were sold to benefit a local Children's Hospital.

On April 10, 1912 it was on a voyage to South Hampton, England and to New York. The boat had 2,227 passengers including the crew. Four days later she struck an iceberg and sinked about 13.5 miles east-southeast to the bottom. Out of the 2,227 passengers only 705 survived and the others are still lost.





The day they discovered the Titanic was in September 1, 1985 by a French and American team. It was 12,500 feet of water. They discovered that the ship is still very damaged and can collapse at any time. In the National Maritime Museum, located in Greenwich, England, they have approximately 6,000 artifacts from the wreck.
