Among Many of the books Shel Silverstein wrote throughout his career, A light in The Attic, was one of his best-selling books in the 1980's. This book is a collection collection of humorous poems and drawings, that was dedicated to Shel Siverstein's daughter "Shanna", who died at the age of 11 due to cerebral aneurysm on April 24, 1982. in this book all the drawings and poems are done by Shel Silverstein. This book had many things that many parents and adults complained and did not like for example the most known, one of the poems in the book, How Not To Have To Dry The Dishes was a contreversy among many people, and many complainde because it encouraged messiness and disobedience. Another poem, Little Abigail and the Beautiful Pony led to more criticism for describing the death of a girl after her parents refuse to buy her a pony. many people thought bad of this book.
After a while of this book being published that the complaints were so much that this book was banned from some libraries because supposedly it promoted horror, violence, suicide, drug use, and cannibalism, to young children, and was not appropiate for young children.
