One of the most important musical figures in the 1980's was the unforgetable Michael Jackson. Michael Jackson was born on August 29,1958 in Gary, Indiana. He was the seventh of ten brothers and sisters. Michael's father Joseph Jackson organzied a band with four of his sons. Michael was later added to the group when he turned 5 years old because he had the ability to sing and dance. Then later he became the lead singer with his older brother Jermaine in the Jackson 5, and had major success along with his brothers.
Then in 1979 Jackson joined up with Quincy Jones who produced his first album "Off the Wall". THen in the early 1980's Jackson recorded "Someone in the dark" which the album won him a grammy award, in 1982. Then later on in 1982 Jackson relased his biggest top album Thriller, which was the best selling album of all time.Then later on in his career in 1983 he reunties with his brothers on a televison speical of the 25th Anniversity of Motown and where Michael performed Billie Jean and his Leandary signatue move the moonwalk, Which became a huge dance move in the 80's and everyone was doing. By that time he was getting more popular because Mtv constaly was showing his music videos, and then In 1983 Jackson was the biggest star around. Also was hired by Pepsi and did numerous commerials with them, but later suffered an accident while shouting a commerical and recevied 2nd degree burns. Jackson also sued pespi and got 1.5 million dollars which he donated to the Brotman Medical Center in Califorena.
Over the next few years, Michael made many major accomplishments. First in 1984 he went to the White house to recevie an award from Ronald Regan, For Jackson's support of the charities that help people with alcohol and drug abuse problem. Later that year he had also won eight grammy awards and he was in the Victory tour with his brothers, and then later donated 8 million dollars to charity. Jackson's other accomplishment was when him and Lionel Richie wrote the single "We are the World" in 1985 to help donate money to the poor in U.S and in Africa too. But then tradgic news happened to Michael in 1986, he was diagonosed with Vitiligo and Lupus, which made his skin exetemly sensitive to sunlight. But this did not stop Michael and he countined with his fame and career.Also Jackson was given the Soul Train Award in 1989 and was given the nickname by his former best friend Elizabeth Taylor and in that same year, ex president George H.W Bush awarded him the White House special "Artist of the Decade award".
For the next few years Michael had some huge stuggles and was in and out of courts in the 90's for child abuse allegations, also went through divorces but manged to be a father of three. Then Jackson was working on his last comeback Tour "This is It" but sadly did not live to complete that dream. Michael Jackson died on June 25, 2009 at UCLA Medical Center, his death was a homicide caused primarily by the powerful anesthetic propofol that was given to him.This news stunned the whole world into shock. Even though he is gone no one will ever forget the great Michael Jackson.
